About Brenden
Since the age of 7, Brenden McGlinn has been fascinated and intrigued by weather. What once started as a fear, Brenden turned his phobia of tornadoes into curiosity. He said, 'Being from the Midwest... I used to be deathly afraid of tornadoes growing up. Anytime I heard the sirens go off, I would be the first one high-tailing it to the basement. There came a point where I asked my dad, "Where's the tornado? Why did they sound the sirens if nothing happened?" It was at that moment, being the curious 7-year-old that I was, when I wanted to seek out answers.'
From that point onward, Brenden spent his summers journaling about the weather he observed. It became a tradition for him every summer to record daily observations, with cutout weather maps from the Weather Channel glued to each page. In 2011, Brenden's curiosity about weather changed significantly. He said, 'After seeing the destruction caused by the April 27th outbreak and the Joplin tornado, I knew that I wanted to one day turn my interest into a career.'
Brenden McGlinn began his college career at Elgin Community College before transferring to Northern Illinois University to study meteorology in 2020. During his time in the meteorology program, Brenden learned the importance of effective communication to those in vulnerable areas. He said, 'It was instilled in us that having a meteorology degree is only half the battle... To be a valuable asset in this field, you need to be able to communicate meteorology effectively to a broad audience.' This important lesson became one of the foundational components of Prestige Weather Consulting.
In his spare time, Brenden loves running and going on nature walks with his rambunctious 2-year-old golden retriever, Beau!
